It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride where season 1 is concerned! From learning of Ward’s Hydra connections, to Coulson learning the truth about Tahiti to S.H.I.E.L.D. being ripped up and having to start again, there’s not been a dull moment.
May starts to let a softer, more human side show through and I’m starting to like her a lot. And she has some rather fantastic, if not unrealistic, kick-ass moves. She’s one tough cookie.
Skye hasn’t learned the truth about her parents yet but we the audience have so we know that’s coming. She’s grown into a valuable member of Coulson’s team yet she is apparently a ticking time bomb.
Fitz and Simmons. They nearly did in the will they won’t they dilemma. But then Fitz nearly died and that’s going to put a dampener on anyone’s day. Hopefully we’ll get to see more of this pairing as it really is adorable.
Coulson learns the truth about his death and resurrection and his own hand in it. He also battles hard to keep his team together, fighting the good fight, and saving all those he cares about. He also delivers some understated comedic moments, like when he finishes off Garrett after his coming back to life more powerful than ever moment.
Ward, well what can we say about Ward. The lying, double-crossing, backstabbing agent who has a major obsession with Skye so sleeps with May because, well actually I’m not too sure why. I did a whole post about the whole Ward/Hydra thing so I’m not going to reiterate it again. I’m only going to say, thank goodness he had enough humanity in him not to shoot Buddy (the dog) because I can watch people get killed on TV without blinking an eye, but shoot the dog? That’s not cool man, not cool.
We were also treated to the special appearance of Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) as well as an appearance by Stan Lee, the great man himself.
I’m looking forward to getting started on season 2 and no doubt there’ll be some new characters to get to know. The special effects, the acting, the writing, and the direction are all top notch so there’s lots to look forward to.
